KOTA KINABALU: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will undertake to produce an animated cartoon series entitled ‘The Blooms’ that focuses on environmental issues.
The series would be based on the Maliau Basin Conservation Area and aims to educate the younger generation about the rich biodiversity of Sabah.
Yesterday, the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North Borneo Media Sdn Bhd (NBM) to embark on the project next month.
Both UMS and NBM hope to promote the cartoon not only locally but to the international markets as well and eventually turn it into a movie.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Vice Chancellor of UMS, Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Kassim Mansur and managing director of NBM, Mohammed Fikhree Abu Bakar.
Speaker of the Sabah Legislative Assembly, Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh Tun Said Keruak witnessed the event.

Green Sabah says: Sabah is rich with biodiversity. Younger generation should be educated on how to conserve the biodiversity hence maintaining the sustainability of our ecosystem. Hopefully this cartoon series will succeed. Support them!

projek animasi yang berasaskan persekitaran alam semulajadi ini amat baik bagi mewujudkan kesedaran kepada orang ramai mengenai kepentingan alam semulajadi.
selain itu, ia juga dpt memajukan industri animasi dan memupuk minat ramai belia untuk menceburi bidang tersebut.

Agree that younger generation should have the knowledge on conserving the biodiversity. At least they have the awareness since young.

Baguslah kalau UMS mahu membuat animasi cartoon untuk persekitaran.
animated cartoon series memang sangat berkesan terutama kanak2.dengan ini pastinya mereka dapat mempelajari tentang isu2 alam dengan lebih menarik.
great way of tapping into the creative talents of the youth in sabah in the field of animation. Perhaps in the future it will be on par with PIXAR
not only that, it will also produce a product(as mentioned within the article) a more engaging, entertaining way of cultivating the importance of preservation of the environment to the younger generation...
Mesti menarik jika menggunakan animasi untuk memberikan kesedaran kepada rakyat untuk menjaga alam sekitar.
